Work Party 10/1

The work party tomorrow is postponed. We are still figuring out exactly how the set will work given our recent "artistic limitations," so we will not have the need for crew to help build tomorrow. Props and publicity if you guys still have things you can do from home then go ahead and do that but otherwise enjoy a day off. Use it to get ahead on work if you can because we will likely have to make up this build at another point in time.

Crew Photos

Hey Crew I need to find a time for Chris to be able to take your photos for the crew bios. I'm thinking Monday, October 3rd after school we could have the crew gather outside the auditorium for 15-20 min right after school and we can get the pictures done badda boom badda bing badda bang.

If for some reason you cannot be there for the first 15-20 min after school Monday please contact me so I can either re-schedule the shoot or organize a separate shoot just for you, you special little snowflake.

Once again that date is Monday, October 3rd outside the auditorium at 3:30 at Lincoln High School where you have classes and maybe even lunch or brunch at break or a similar meal structure.

This is all of crew, no matter what your position on crew. See you there!

Chair-itable Crew?

Could a few crew members please stay after school for a few minutes tomorrow (Thursday) to help us bring in some chairs for the seating? It won't take too long and at the end I'll even let you sit in a chair! Wow, cool huh?

Just meet outside the auditorium tomorrow after school if you can help.

Rehearsal Today

If you are not called for today's scenes, you do not have to be here today. Go you, take a day off. Everyone is still required to be here tomorrow, as we will be taking cast photos so don't get too used to it :)

DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS?

If you are a vegan, vegetarian, and/or need to stay dairy-free and/or gluten-free, please tell Ben Pagano.  The drama mamas are planning what the cast and crew will eat from tech weekend thru opening.  That's a lot of meal planning.  Please help by letting Ben know your special dietary needs, if any.

Remember, we can't read your minds, so please TELL us of any dietary needs. Thanks!

Is Your Name Spelled Correctly? Look on Auditorium Door

The lists of students in the cast and crew of METAMORPHOSES are posted on the auditorium door.

How you see your name on this list is how it will be spelled on the show's t-shirt and in the playbill, unless you edit it.  If your name isn't on this list, and you're involved in this show, please add it.

You have until Tuesday, Sept 27 at 1p to edit.  Thanks!

Scheduling EVERYTHING (almost)

That's sure a schedule if I ever saw one!

To the best of Jim and I's knowledge, this appears to be the best use of rehearsal time for the coming weeks considering people's conflicts. If you think there's an oopsie or something that just may be difficult to pull off timing wise, let us know sooner rather than later so that we can change the schedule around to fit everything in before runs start on the 10th.

9/20 - Devising Orpheus and Euridice; Eros and Psyche

9/21 - Devising Baucis and Phillemon; Midas

9/22 - Devising Narcissus interlude; Erysichton

9/23 - Devising Alcyone and Ceyx; Pamona and Vertumnus/Myrrah

9/26 - Clean Opening; Phaeton; Narcissus interlude

9/27 - Run show for designers; work problem spots with time remaining

9/28 - Clean Orpheus and Euridice; Eros and Psyche

9/29 - Clean Baucis and Phillemon; Midas; Pamona and Vertumnus/Myrrah

9/30 - Clean Erysichton; Alycyone and Ceyx

10/3-7 - Problem spots: TBD

10/10-13 - Run show

10/14 - State-wide inservice day—tech crew only, no actors. This will likely be 9:00 am-6:00 pm.

10/15 - Dry-tech: only crew called

10/16 - Cue to cue: crew called at 10 am, actors called at noon. We’ll finish at 10 pm.

10/17-19 - Dress rehearsals. Keep 3:30-10:00 pm open.

10/20-22 - Performances. Call time TBD.

10/26 - Pick up rehearsal. Time TBD.

10/27-29 - Performances. Closing night party on stage after final show.

10/31 - Begin strike. We will work until 6:00 to give people time for the holiday.

11/1 - Finish strike. We must finish by the end of the night, as there is an event in the

auditorium the following evening.

Who Likes Paint?

Hey guys we're looking for a small group of techies who would like to be added to a new "Paint Crew." You'll work with our set designer Emily to learn professional painting techniques and get really good at it and stuff. Maybe you'll even be able to take these skill into the professional world around Portland! Wouldn't that be exciting!

When we paint at work parties, you'll be the go to people for that. We may also ask you to come in after rehearsals a few days to finish up the paint. So far, I believe Emma and Matt have talked to Emily about the crew, but if anyone else also wants to, please contact me or Emily or maybe even Emma or Matt or just scream it from the rooftops I get it you're excited I'm sure someone will hear.

Cast and Crew - Towels?

Dear Cast and Crew,

First of all, just another reminder to the crew to be at the work party this Saturday no later than 10am so we can get to work as soon as possible on the seating. Anyway, now for the towels thing.

People will get very wet and consequently very cold in this play. It would be nice if people could try and supply beach towels for actors to use backstage to dry themselves off and warm themselves up between scenes. Please try and see if you might have one or two available for the run of the show. (Note: We're talking beach towels not bath towels. They're the bigger ones. If you need help with this here is a handy website: Number_one_anime_fight_of_the_century.org)

Parents of Cast AND Crew Meeting this Thursday, Sept 15

Cast and Crew -- please tell your parents to come to the PARENT MEETING this Thursday, Sept 15 at 6:30p in the Auditorium.

Mr. Peerenboom will talk about all things important for parents to know about this play.  We will also explain volunteer opportunities, including set-building, help with concessions and ticketing at shows, costuming, making food/meals for the cast/crew, etc.

Your parents like to meet the other parents involved in this play.  We need an active parent volunteer group to help with every show.

Thanks for telling your parents about this important and NOT TO MISS meeting.

The Best Gosh-darn Tech List this side o' the Mississippi

Hey Techies!

Thanks for those of you who could help on such short notice last Saturday. We did a great job of prepping the set to be built but unfortunately that was only the beginning. Duh duh duh!

If you are on Build Crew, it is expected that you will show up to all work parties, and show up on time ready to work. We had a slight problem with tardiness last week so I would like to remind you to please, please try to be there at 10, which might mean shooting for 9:45 or 9:50 to give yourselves that extra buffer room.

The next work party is scheduled for Saturday, September 17th from 10am-6pm at Lincoln High School. (Yes, that is a 6. But always know that if we finish early like we did last week, I will never force you to stick around for no reason. Those kind of early releases are rare, but they can happen if enough people show up ready and eager to work)

Work parties are every Saturday. Attendance is just as important as attending rehearsal is for the actors or attending the doctor is for your health... or attending the work parties is for your health. Kidding. But seriously do come.

Now that we've got that out of the way, here are some positions!

BUILD

Everyone! Yay! Friendship! Sharing! Communism!

There was also one person who I talked to today about crew but whose name I do not yet know but I promise I will find a place for you.

Much like the play itself, your roles on tech crew are subject to change. Due to the nature of the play and how it is being formed, we do not yet know all the details of how it will run. Because of this, crews may grow or shrink in size accordingly. That said, for now you can consider this a pretty good estimate of what the future of crew will look like for you all.

Also, something which is long overdue:

Important Dates. Yay!

Sunday, October 16th, noon-10pm: Cue-to-cue

October 17th - 19th: Dress rehearsals (keep the hours 3:30-10:00 open as exact times have not yet been decided)

October 20th - 23th: The first week of performances

Wednesday, October 26th: Pick up rehearsal (Time TBD)

October 27th-29th: Second week of performances

If you have a conflict for any of these dates contact me immediately as these are vital dates which almost all technicians will need to keep available.

Thank you all for reading that block of text and see you next Saturday!

-Ben Pagano

Hey Actors Look a Schedule

Why, look. It is indeed a schedule!

For the next few weeks, this will be the schedule,

Mondays: Opening; Phaeton
Tuesdays: Orpheus and Eurydice; Eros and Psyche
Wednesdays: Baucis and Philemon; Midas
Thursdays: Erysichthon
Fridays: Alcyone and Ceyx; Pomona and Vertumnus/Narcissus interlude/Myrrah

If you are not in the scenes for a particular day this does not excuse you from rehearsal. You might be added spontaneously like "Wow look at that person they showed up! Let's make them Midas's uncle! Or Orpheus's pet rabbit! Or a sentient bath bubble!" Whatever, you get the idea.

If for some reason you had on your conflicts that you couldn't be there for one of these dates but you're a principle character in that scene, please remind me with harsh words via email or polite words to my face you cowards.

Tech Crew

Hey Everybody!

I don't have set positions for you yet, because some forms are still trickling in and I need more time to assess people's desires and conflicts. That being said, to all those who have applied...

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

You made it! Woo go you!

The people I've talked to so far are as follows:

Emma Nash
Lydia Fecker
Sammy Martin
Sophia Pratt
Chani Daly
Katie Reahl
Ethan Childs
Aidan Childs
Ava Sweet
Hillary Meskimen
Grace Dietzschold
Barrett Kent
Ivy Decker
Caroline Edwards
Riley Alfaro
Laura Tuazon
Amalia Carkeek-Hercey
Riley Womer
Tristan Muresan
Audrey Taylor
Matt Hertler

This should be everyone. If your name is not on this list it means I forgot about you so shame on me for that and shame on you for not making an impression. If your name is misspelled it was too hard to spell in the first place.

As any part of tech crew, you will be expected to attend work parties every Saturday starting...

Tomorrow, September 10th 10am-5pm.

Please be there sharply at 10 so we can begin work immediately. It is possible we can finish early if everyone is there and ready to work right at the beginning.

Keep an eye on the blog for further updates on positions.

See you tomorrow!

Metamorphoses Cast List

Metamorphoses Cast List

First, thank you, brave artists!  You threw down and left it all on the stage.  There were so many lovely moments during this audition process that I wish there were more roles in this production.  As it is, I have created a way that I feel I can double the original cast size….. but I’m not quite done.

To give myself more time this evening/tomorrow to finalize some specific roles, and more importantly to make sure you’re all getting some sleep, I’m posting the names of the cast but not the roles you will be playing.  By tomorrow’s read-through, I will have more specifics on exact roles and during the read through I will experiment, potentially, with more than one option.  Regardless, the names below represent the cast of Metamorphoses.  Thank you to all who auditioned and please consider joining our technical crew if you are not in the cast.  We will be interviewing for technical positions next week.  Please check the blog for more details.
